Father Claims Son Hurt in NDLEA Operation, Delta State, Was Abandoned

This story describes the allegations made by a Nigerian parent in Delta State that his son was shot by a National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officer accidentally, and that the state and the agency then abandoned him. According to reports, the event happened in July 2023.

Two small youngsters are said to have been hit by a stray gunshot during an NDLEA raid on a suspected drug den in Delta.
Tragically, one child—Ivan Omorhiakogbe—died as a result of the wounds.
The gunshot caused shards of glass to break, injuring Eromonsele Omorhiakogbe, the other youngster.

According to the father, the NDLEA first promised to pay Eromonsele’s medical fees and even offered to fly him to the US for treatment.
He asserts that the family is now responsible for covering the cost as this help has terminated.
The father also claims that after first expressing a want to assist, the Delta State government has stopped responding.

According to reports, Eromonsele’s eye injury is still bothering him.
Uncertainty surrounds the magnitude of his continuing medical demands and the financial burden on the family.
