The management of Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) have started working together to improve cargo delivery by implementing Electronic tags (E-tags) for convenient entry and exit from the ports.
The new innovation is free for truckers, according to a statement from TTP Managing Director Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, who also noted that the initiative promises to transform port security and efficiency.
Onwubuariri added that the program will deal with issues pertaining to MSP (Minimum Standard Procedure) non-compliance.
“This initiative aims to improve the ease of doing business for truckers and the maritime or blue economy,” he said, “and to address challenges related to non-compliance with standard operating procedures in the administration of the electronic call-up scheme, particularly concerning the MSS.”
“The decision follows the NPA Managing Director’s endorsement of E-tag technology deployment as a workable solution during a recent expanded stakeholders meeting in Lagos.
“TTP has committed to bearing the full financial burden of the project, signaling its unwavering dedication to fostering long-term investments in advancing the digital infrastructure of Nigeria’s ports, following extensive discussions and strategic deliberations with key stakeholders and NPA.”
“The project demonstrates TTP’s unwavering commitment to advancing efficiency and encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge technology within the maritime sector, in support of the objectives of the NPA and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Committee PEBEC. It will further facilitate the port’s and its community’s ease of doing business.
