LAGOS – Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, says that its recent changes to its leadership is meant to “realign” the company for proper positioning.
The company in its own statement signed by the Managing Director/CEO, Victor Ojelabi, recently, said the changes were in furtherance of the implementation of the Board-approved AEDC Turnaround Plan.
“Please be advised of the following key updates in our dear company, as we move to reposition AEDC as the clear market leader in the Nigerian electricity distribution.”
The statement said Godfrey Aba has been appointed Chief Technical Officer and that he will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s technical operations to ensure efficient operations and optimal network performance.
“The Chief Business Officer role has been restructured to provide the right executive attention and drive for our districts, ensure end-to-end energy accounting and improve customer experience. We will now have three Chief Business Officers reporting to the MD/CEO directly.
“Leticia Ejendu has been appointed as one of the three Chief Business Officers, within the new CBO structure. She will oversee the other regions pending the appointment of the other two CBOs. Her appointment takes effect immediately.”
The statement added that Ibem Idika has been appointed Head, Human Resources, saying he will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing the HR policies across the Company as well as implementation of the Company’s talent strategy.
Also, Irene Nwankwo has been appointed Chief Internal Auditor effective immediately.
As also gathered, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company, Christopher Ezeafulukwe has resigned.
Although official sources said Mr Ezeafulukwe is on medical vacation, there are speculations that that he resigned last week.
This, however, hasn’t been confirmed.
If he actually resigned, then it came five months after assuming duty on September 1, 2023, following the acquisition of 60 per cent stake in the company by Transcorp-led investors.
The development shows how short tenure AEDC Ceos can be.
Mr. Ojelabi is the 6th CEO of the company in 10 years. The others are: Neil Croucher; Ernest Mupwaya (longest serving); Akinwumi Bada; Adeoye Fadeyibi; and Mr. Ezeafulukwe.
